  • New selfie series, Xiaomi will likely try and cement this growth further by expanding its portfolio in the market. So far, the company's Redmi brand was limited to Redmi Note 4, Redmi 4, and the budget friendly Redmi 4A. These phones focused on the overall package, but with the selfie series, Xiaomi will shift focus to one particular aspect of the phone, which in this case is the front camera.
  • XIAOMI will likely price the selfie camera smartphones under Rs 10,000 given this is a segment which drives volumes for the company. Other Chinese players like OPPO and vivo have also been aggressively focusing on the selfie camera angle, though most of these phones are priced in the Rs 15,000 and above segment.

  • The company has also confirmed that MIUI 9 will be rolling out to India on November 2. The same was posted on MIUI India’s official Twitter handle. We could also see more announcements around the MIUI 9 rollout at today's event with Xiaomi highlighting new features for the Indian market as well as which phones will get the upgrade.
  • The launch event will kick start at 12:00 PM IST and one can live to stream it by going to company’s official website. Previously, the company has teased a photo on its official Twitter handle, which reveals that it will launch a new series on November 2.
  • The tweet reads, “Your best self is within you! Coming your way is a brand new series on November 2! RT if you're ready to see your best self #YourBestSelfie.” The teaser image shows a fast charging icon, which means that the next smartphone will feature quick charging support. The fast charging icon also depicts the latest MIUI 9 logo. For the unintended, the company introduced MIUI 9 in July this year. The company will introduce the global stable version of its MIUI 9 at today’s event.
  • This new series will be first launched in India which exhibits the company's confidence in this market. Xiaomi has been performing consistently in the market, especially with the Redmi series. Going by the invite this new device will tap into the growing trend of selfie cameras.
  • Xiaomi devices are mostly adept at handling anything you throw at them but the devices struggle when it front cameras. Xiaomi might set that right with this new series.
  • Other than the selfie camera teaser, one poster shows a fast charging symbol. This signifies that the device will also come equipped with fast charging.
  • The company declared in October that it has sold over four million smartphones in the Indian market within a period of just one month.
  • The festive season sales led to the sharp rise in sales. According to Xiaomi, they were the number one smartphone brand on Flipkart's Big Billion Day sale and Amazon Great Indian Festival.
  • Earlier this month there were various leaks that suggested that Xiaomi is working on the next Redmi Note phone. The Redmi Note 5 is expected to feature an edge to edge display and a dual camera lens on the back panel of the device.
  • Xioami unveiled the latest version of its MIUI, MIUI 9, in July this year. The Android-based UI brings a slew of new features ro Xiaomi devices, these include a new in-built Smart Assistant.
  • Earlier this week, Xiaomi announced a price cut for its Mi Max 2 smartphone. Launched at Rs 14,999 in August this year, the smartphone is now available at Rs 13,999 post a discount of Rs 1,000.
  • Xiaomi Mi Max 2 comes in two varaints based on storage and RAM capacity -- 4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB internal storage. On specifications front, Xiaomi Mi Max 2 comes with 6.44-inch display with Gorilla Glass 3 on top. It features an all-metal unibody design and runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. For photos, Mi Max 2 has a 12-megapixel rear camera that uses the IMX 376 image sensor. On the front, there's a 5-megapixel camera.
